JUDGING
(There is NO talent portion for the Mrs. America pageant.)

Competition includes…

Interview: (25%) ~ You will have a 4-minute personal one-on-one interview with each of our five judges in the preliminary competition. You are judged on confidence, intelligence, personality, poise, appearance, the ability to articulate and charisma. Interview attire can be a skirt-suit or a pantsuit and should be something you would wear for a job interview.

Swimsuit: (25%) ~ You are judged on overall condition, fitness, posture, and carriage. Your swimsuit should be a solid one piece (no french-cut), any color, with matching solid color wrap (above the knee). You have the option to wear pantyhose.

Evening Gown: (25%) ~ Floor length only. You are judged on gracefulness and style and poise, not the price of the gown. Judgment is based upon how a contestant wears the gown, poise, appearance, photogenic qualities, beauty of figure, and beauty of face. Your gown should reflect your personality.

Beauty & Poise: (25%) ~ Beauty of face, appearance, charisma, style carriage, and photogenic qualities.

Judges: Judges will be chosen from the acting, modeling, entertainment and business professional fields. They will be informed of the names of the contestants two weeks prior to the competition. If a judge knows any contestant on a personal level, that particular judge will be replaced with an alternate judge. Each judge will sign a legal document declaring that they do not know any contestant in the competition.

This is a sample of what our judges are told: In simple terms, your duty as a judge is "to cast" the role of the new Mrs. New Jersey America. You are searching for the most confident, photogenic, articulate and poised individual among the contestants at this event to represent today's American married women. Naturally, judging is subjective and dependent upon "feelings". Beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder.
