With the platform of 'The Importance of Music Education for Our Youth', Geralyn made numerous appearances throughout her reign advocating her belief of the positive and long-term benefits that music education provides for our children. Equally important was her secondary platform, 'Believing in your Dreams', speaking to young children and adults on the importance of developing and maintaining self-esteem, and achieving one's goals. It did not take long before she was sought out to speak at many colleges, universities, elementary, middle and high schools.

Along with speaking at our state educational facilities and visiting many children's shelters, Geralyn has taken the big stage and opened up concerts for Teen Pop Singer 'Aaron Carter', American Idol's 'Justin Guarini', the Fabulous 60's singing group 'The Duprees', the Garden State Philharmonic Orchestra and the Garden State Philharmonic Youth Orchestra just to name of few. Geralyn was also honored as the Grand Marshal for the 2004 Mummers Parade as well as being presented with three proclamations, both state and local, for her accomplishments, compassion, work and dedication to our youth as Mrs. New Jersey America 2003.

When asked 'What was her favorite appearance?', her response is, “I cannot name one appearance, because they were all wonderful. However, when I received feedback during my reign about how I made others feel about themselves…by affecting one's life with words or actions in order for them to move in a more positive direction, to strive harder to become whatever it is that they dream of becoming…is STILL the greatest feeling in the world to me.”

“Being honored with the title and crown is a blessing. Using the crown as a vehicle to help others achieve their goals is the true meaning of being a successful and memorable titleholder.”

- Geralyn Choltco Watson

Due to the confidentiality of protecting the children of our shelters, many appearances could not be photographed.

It was a great year…one that I will remember and cherish for the rest of my life! Not only for being blessed to have the title of Mrs. New Jersey America, but to be fortunate enough to have the crown lead me down the paths it has led me. To my husband Chuck, family and friends and the wonderful people I have met along the way, who have now become friends, thank you for being a part of my amazing journey.

Much love,
Geralyn ‘Geri’ Watson
